[Updated May 19th, 2023] – Adidas has officially unveiled the release information for the highly anticipated adidas Yeezy footwear lineup, scheduled to commence on May 31st. Notably, as part of the agreement, Kanye West will receive a 15% commission on profits, while a significant portion of the proceeds will be allocated to support charitable organizations, including the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the Philonise & Keeta Floyd Institute for Social Change.
Bjørn Gulden, CEO of adidas, expressed the company’s thoughtful consideration in making this decision: “After careful consideration, we have chosen to release the remaining adidas YEEZY products. Through conversations with various organizations and stakeholders, selling and donating emerged as the preferred approach.”
Since the termination of the YEEZY partnership in October, adidas has diligently explored multiple options for utilizing the existing YEEZY inventory. The process involved extensive engagement with diverse groups, including employees, organizations, communities, and consumers, to ensure responsible management of the existing products. Despite the partnership’s conclusion, adidas proceeded with the production orders committed to earlier, aiming to safeguard its supply chain partners from adverse effects caused by cancellations.
In a remarkable development, shortly after the official announcement of Ye’s agreement with adidas to sell off existing Yeezy stock, the brand seems prepared to take its first steps towards executing its 2023 release plans. Today, the adidas India website briefly displayed an image showcasing a wide array of iconic adidas Yeezy footwear, such as the Yeezy 350 “Pirate Black,” Zebra 350s, Utility Black 500s, Yeezy Foam Runner, Yeezy Slides, and more, all set to launch from June 1st onwards. While specific release dates for each drop have not yet been disclosed, it is expected that they will follow a staggered schedule throughout the summer months. Moreover, enthusiasts can anticipate the introduction of entirely new adidas Yeezy styles that have not been seen before.
Per the agreement, the existing adidas Yeezy footwear inventory will be made available for retail sale, with a portion of the proceeds allocated to the formerly known Ye, who will receive a 15% commission. Additionally, significant contributions will be donated to combat discrimination, hate, racism, and anti-Semitism.
Although the photo has been removed from the adidas India site, this information aligns with recent reports of the Zebra 350s and Utility Black 500s surfacing across adidas UK/Europe, further confirming the upcoming releases.
