Air Jordan

Air Jordan is a highly popular sneaker line under the Brand Jordan label, which is a subsidiary of NIKE, Inc. It was first created in 1984 for Michael Jordan, a six-time NBA champion, and has since become one of the most sought-after athlete-specific sneaker lines in history. With 35 signature models to date, the Air Jordan range has been designed by renowned names such as Peter Moore, Bruce Kilgore, Wilson Smith III, Tate Kuerbis, and Tinker Hatfield, who has created 21 out of 34 models.

Although originally designed for performance basketball, many Air Jordan models, especially those between the Jordan 1 and Jordan 14, have also gained a significant following in the lifestyle and casual wear categories. The brand has released numerous retros over the years, including individual releases, sets such as the “Defining Moments Pack” and “Countdown Pack,” and collections like the “Bin 23.” Among these, retros of the Jordan 3, Jordan 4, Jordan 5, and Jordan 6 have caused controversy over their branding.

Despite this, the Air Jordan line remains a major player in the sneaker industry. In fact, it helped the Brand Jordan label achieve its first $1 billion revenue quarter in Q2 of the 2020 fiscal year, and the best-selling release of all time was the 2019 Jordan 11 “Bred.”

Over the years, Air Jordan has collaborated with numerous high-profile brands and individuals, including UNDEFEATED, Supreme, OFF-WHITE by Virgil Abloh, Travis Scott, Drake’s OVO, UNION LA, and Don C. Additionally, several famous athletes have received special Friends & Family and Player Exclusive (PE) pairs, further adding to Air Jordan’s legacy.
