Montreal-Based Artist Callen Schaub Adds His Abstract Work To Two Saucony Classics

Montreal-based abstract artist Callen Schaub has brought his unique designs to various canvases, from traditional artwork to clothing and even the human head. Over the span of his decades-long career, he’s also ventured into the realm of sneakers, having previously painted one-off editions of the Reebok Trideca and Converse Chuck Taylor. Now, in what could be considered his most significant footwear collaboration to date, Saucony has partnered with him for a two-piece collection showcasing his distinctive style.

Compared to his previous work on Reebok and Converse shoes, where paint dripped off the sides in Pollock-esque fashion, Schaub’s abstract technique is somewhat more restrained in this collection. On the Saucony Progrid Omni 9, his artistry is comprehensive, with a marbled gradient adorning the midsole, transitioning from off-white at the forefoot to vibrant pinks and blues at the heel. The same mesmerizing pattern extends to the upper, enveloping underlying synthetics in swirling shades.

In contrast, the Saucony Shadow 6000 exhibits a more conservative approach. Schaub’s influence is primarily evident on the medial River logo and the rear heel tab, with the tongue tag featuring a painted swatch of colors reminiscent of city lights blurred by motion. The overall colorway remains clean and simple, featuring a balanced combination of white, blue, and black across the majority of the shoe.

Both pairs from the Callen Schaub x Saucony collection are set to launch on April 12th in the EU, with a stateside release yet to be confirmed. Below, enjoy detailed photos of the Callen Schaub x Saucony Shadow 6000 and Saucony Progrid Omni 9.
