Saucony Releases Earth Day Footwear Lineup Utilizing Mushroom-Based Formula
As we approach Earth Day, several sneaker brands have begun embracing eco-conscious designs in their latest collections. Saucony, in particular, has taken a step towards sustainability with its Spring/Summer 2023 lineup, featuring some of its most environmentally-friendly sneakers to date. The Massachusetts-based brand has utilized a 90% bio-based formula derived from fungi, instead of leather, to construct its popular lifestyle silhouettes like the Shadow 6000, 3D Grid Hurricane, and Shadow 5000.
The Mushroom Pack, as it is called, features overlays in a variety of colors including “Burgundy”, cream, and bright yellow. The shoe also incorporates repurposed fabrics, such as a hemp-based mesh, recycled laces, and cork footbeds. Additionally, an olive green mushroom at the tongue tab further accentuates the shoes’ eco-friendly aesthetic. The sneakers will be available for purchase starting April 22nd, with prices ranging from $120-$150.
