Supra, the streetwear brand, has teamed up with New York-based photographer, painter, and sculptor Andrew Levitas to create a unique edition of their slip-on sneaker, the Cuba. Levitas used an image from his series of photographs taken while exploring the subterranean catacombs beneath Rome, where he had unprecedented access to the remains of Capuchin friars. The image, presented in Levitas’ signature style, is transferred onto large metal sheets for a sculptural effect and features a grim image of one friar backed with a plethora of skulls across each of the durable canvas uppers of the Cuba. Levitas believes that these images have meaning and are contextually rich, and he hopes to push as many people as possible to consider certain ideas.
The Andrew Levitas x Supra Cuba is a serious collaboration with even more serious subject matter, and it will be dropping soon. Stay tuned for further release details.
