From Jordan and Drake to Kendrick Lamar and Nike to Pharell and adidas, the world of music remains entrenched within the sneaker industry, and vice versa. Having permeated throughout the ecosystem since 2013, Run The Jewels’ long-awaited sneaker collaboration first appeared via leaked imagery late last year. And this Thursday, the Yankee and the Brave’s inaugural team-up with The Swoosh arrives by way of the Beaverton brand’s hoops-to-street icon.
Embarking on a palette inspired by their fourth studio album, Killer Mike and El-P bring their revolutionary sound and voices to both the SB Dunk High and Low, casting vibrant “Active Pink” pony hair atop premium, jet-black tumbled leather base layers. In tandem with a multi-dimensional Swoosh, the high-top pair’s metallic dubraes mimic the superstar duo’s iconic hand-over-fist insignia while an array of disparately colored laces allow the personalization to run rampant. On the other hand, the Nike SB Dunk Low airs on the side of a more streamlined approach, clothing its clad nubuck construction in a tonal set of “Deep Royal Blue” and “Blue Chill”. Additionally dressing the translucent sole unit underfoot in the presiding oceanic aesthetic, the high-top pair’s dominant pink real estate returns to treat its contemporaries mid-foot Swoosh.
